2019 Just Ask Prevention Student Advisory Council

 

Vision

The Just Ask Prevention Student Advisory Council is committed to strengthening the voices of youth and to enhancing awareness of teen sex trafficking. Just Ask Prevention is seeking to promote projects that are youth-driven and fit within the current priorities of the organization.
 

Structure

The Council will consist of 30 members, and officers will include President, Vice-President, Secretary, four Media Managers (Twitter and Instagram)


Current Priorities of the Council

  • Assure that young people have age-appropriate understanding and responses to human trafficking
  • Provide peers with the tools to avoid victimization, and make sure that parents are informed and understand the problem
  • Look for opportunities to engage with other students in conversations, and formal presentations
  • Seek out and plan for outreach opportunities to recruit a diverse council membership (e.g. county or city fairs)

Role Responsibilities

  • Review and refine curricula and other training materials
  • Design the content and format of training videos
  • Determine the agenda for the second annual youth conference
  • Attend one in-person kick-off meeting and four virtual meetings to be held every other month during the school year
  • Manage and promote Just Ask Prevention social media accounts by posting informative posts and engaging with social media users in a positive and respectful way
